How to clean window film
Posted on | February 4, 2009 | No Comments
Our window films have a scratch resistant coating to protect against everyday contact. Care does need to be taken as window film is essentially a coating containing materials which can be damaged by abrasive cleaning or contact.
We advise not to clean the materials during the “curing period” of the window film, which is typically 30 days, we always advise on curing times once a product has been selected.
For best results always clean with a rubber squeegee and mild detergent/water solution. Do not use brushes or abrasive cleaners.
Solar Heat control window film for Homes

Solar heat control window film is used to reduce the heat coming through glazing from the sun. Many houses and particularly flats with large glazing areas will suffer in the summer months. Many people resort to things like keeping blinds closed or using air-conditioning. Air condition is often noisy and expensive to run. By using solar heat control window film you can cut down on solar heat without the need for blinds or air-conditioning.
Solar control window film is installed to existing glazing and varies is shade. At films for home we offer Solar heat control films which are clear and so will not alter the appearance of your glazing.
Glazing protection a must

In the latest counter-terrorism advice from MI5, glazing enhancement was once again highlighted as a key to mitigate damage and injury in the event of a terrorist attack.
The following statements were made regarding glazing:
“Do what you can to make your building more blast resistant, paying
particular attention to windows.”
“Many casualties in urban terrorist attacks are from flying glass, especially
in modern buildings, and glazing protection is an important casualty
reduction measure. Extensive research has been carried out on the effects
of blast on glass. There are technologies that minimise shattering and
casualties, as well as the costs of re-occupation. Anti-shatter film, which
holds fragmented pieces of glass together, offers a relatively cheap and
rapid improvement to existing glazing.”

Protecting Glazing from Blasts

In the event of a blast, glazing will fragment and shatter. It is estimated that 90% of injuries in the event of a blast are caused by flying glass, this is easily avoidable.
By applying blast mitigation window film to glazing, glass is contained and will not fragment. Take a look at our blast mitigation window film products for more information. http://films4homes.co.uk/blast-protection-window-film.htm
