How to clean window film

Our window films have a scratch resistant coating to protect against everyday contact. Care does need to be taken as window film is essentially a coating containing materials which can be damaged by abrasive cleaning or contact.

We advise not to clean the materials during the “curing period” of the window film, which is typically 30 days, we always advise on curing times once a product has been selected.

For best results always clean with a rubber squeegee and mild detergent/water solution. Do not use brushes or abrasive cleaners.

In the latest counter-terrorism advice from MI5, glazing enhancement was once again highlighted as a key to mitigate damage and injury in the event of a terrorist attack.

The following statements were made regarding glazing:

“Do what you can to make your building more blast resistant, paying

particular attention to windows.”

“Many casualties in urban terrorist attacks are from flying glass, especially

in modern buildings, and glazing protection is an important casualty

reduction measure. Extensive research has been carried out on the effects

of blast on glass. There are technologies that minimise shattering and

casualties, as well as the costs of re-occupation. Anti-shatter film, which

holds fragmented pieces of glass together, offers a relatively cheap and

rapid improvement to existing glazing.”

Protecting Glazing from Blasts

In the event of a blast, glazing will fragment and shatter. It is estimated that 90% of injuries in the event of a blast are caused by flying glass, this is easily avoidable.

Training For The Future

All Films4Homes on site staff have undertaken and passed NVQ’S in glass processing, level 2. In addition to this all on site staff have successfully obtained CSCS cards for Glass Related Occupations.

Films4Homes installers have also been trained in the use of mobile towers, scissor lifts and boom lifts and hold valid pasma and ipaf certification.
